What's New for 2023?
For the 2023 model year, Toyota has added a new appearance package to the Tundra, and it's available only for the SR5 trim. This appearance package, called the SX, adds black and dark gray elements to the interior and exterior of the Tundra. Also added are dark gray 18-inch wheels along with blackened door handles, blackened body trim, and a blackened rear bumper mid-section. While the SX package is available for the SR5 trim, customers can only get it with models that have a white, silver, gray, or black exterior.
Performance
The Toyota Tundra still features the same engine options as last year. Under the hood, a twin-turbo V-6 and a 10-speed automatic transmission come standard. Though this engine does vary in power depending on the trim. The engine can produce 348 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque on the base SR trim.
Optional on the Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition trims and standard on the TRD Pro and Capstone, the same engine is paired to a battery-electric hybrid system. This powertrain produces a combined output of 437 horsepower and 583 pounds of torque.
The Tundra is a powerful truck. With its sturdy frame and strong engine options, this pickup can offer a max payload capacity of 1,940 pounds and a tow rating of around 12,000 pounds.
Technology
Littered throughout the various trims of the Toyota Tundra is a slew of new technology. An eight-inch touchscreen comes standard in all cabins, but an even larger horizontally oriented 14-inch touchscreen is available on almost every trim. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot is also offered. Other prominent features include a panoramic sunroof, heated front & rear seats, and sound-reducing front windows.
Safety Features
It should come as no surprise that Toyota outfits the latest Tundra model with plenty of advanced driver aids. Every Tundra model comes equipped with Safety Sense 2.5. This package features a pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a lane-keeping system. When in a higher trim, drivers will encounter safety features such as a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
